The surface of the copper plate is artificially verdigris coated, which makes the surface less susceptible to aging.

We at Wakuni Shoten are originally roof specialists who work sympathetically - but with a twist of modernity. To protect people from the wind, rain, and sunlight, our skilled artisans use durable, superior brass and copper sheets.
As it happens, a very few of us roofers at Wakuni Shoten are also sensitive craftsmen who are capable of shaping metal sculptures. We use the same superior metal sheets to craft our high-quality cranes as we do to craft the roofs. Those metal sheets are very enjoyable to work with: almost bend like paper and can take beautiful shapes.
In January 2024 I opened a cafe in Tokyo. The design of the café was supervised by architect Kengo Kuma. He saw my metal cranes and took on the design. I also sell metal paper cranes at this café.
